Position Title : Project Assistant
Location : IIPH- Gandhinaagar, Gujarat
Duration of Position : One year or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.
Brief:
This is three years studyfor Improving women and child health in rural/tribal India using novel diagnostic technologies for prevalence of TORCH and maternal stress. The objectives of the study are to develop a model for diagnosis and community awareness about infections causing preterm births and congenital malformations and to test the hypothesis that stress among pregnant women in rural and tribal India has adverse impact on maternal and neonatal health as seen in the western countries. The model will include strategies and mechanisms for orientation and awareness generation among women and community in general using both public and private healthcare functionaries. Models will help to scale up the use of diagnostic technology for these infections and maternal stress in both public/private sectors in rural and tribal areas.
Deliverables:
Contact with government officials and government field staff and planning for data collection.
Identify pregnant women in first trimester.
Checking for appropriate participant consent.
Help FHWs or collect blood samples and saliva samples from participants
Travels to field sites to collect and record data and/or samples as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study.
Enters data into a computer database and/or spreadsheet application for subsequent analysis.
Data collection, monitoring and reporting requirements related to enrollment
Communicating effectively with participants, community partners and staff.
Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor to achieve the project goals.
Qualification:
Essential
Graduation in nursing/Post-Graduation (Social work, /Sciences/ Social Sciences)
Experience:
Essential
0-1 year experience
Desirable
At least one year
