Project Title: Capacity building and Institutional Development of
Farmers' Groups in Sustainable Agriculture and Livelihoods
Position: Chief Operations Officer
Place: Dantewada, Chhattisgarh
Basic Profile:
In order to provide market linkage to the organic farmers, a Farmer’s Producer
Organization (FPO) has been promoted by Nirmaan as a part of this initiative. Since
the FPO mainly constitutes of the tribal and small and marginal farmers, there is
need for continuous professional support in order to ensure efficiency and
profitability.

The Chief Operations Officer will be required to oversee and handle the overall day-
to-day operations of the FPO apart from working on the aspects of business

development such as market research, product development, value chain analysis,
business plan development, devising marketing strategies, branding etc. The COO
will be responsible to look over the procurement, storage, processing, marketing
and sales of the FPO. Therefore, we expect you to be equipped with excellent
leadership and managerial skills, analytical skills, business acumen and exemplary
work ethics.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
 Set comprehensive goals for growth of the Organization and chart out a plan
and business strategy to achieve them
 Conduct market research, value-chain analysis, costing and pricing for
various products of FPO
 Design and ensure effective implementation of procurement plan of the FPO
 Establish an effective storage and stock management system addressing the
issues of storage loss, pest infestation, pilferage etc.
 Assist in establishing Processing Centre of the FPO and set up processes to
ensure quality, maximise efficiency and minimise losses and pilferage
 Coordinate and oversee daily operations such as collection of produce,
processing, packaging and logistics such as transportation, supply of
packaging material etc.
 Looking after marketing activities such as reaching out to potential buyers,
forging new partnerships, devising innovative marketing strategies etc.
 Setting up monthly sales targets and coordinating activities to meet them

 Analyze critically various types of relevant data and draw out financial
projections and future course of action
 Lead (Guide, train and monitor) the forward linkage team to encourage
maximum performance and dedication
 Necessary documentation
Other business related activities as may be decided by the project team and/or
Project ESC
Skills and Qualities Required:
 Outstanding organizational and leadership and managerial abilities
 Understanding of business functions like trading, marketing, sales etc.
 Competency in strategic planning and business development
 Competent at Data Analysis
 Competent at MS Excel and Working knowledge of MS Office
 Proficient in Hindi and English
 Articulation, Communication and interpersonal skills
 Documentation and presentation skills: Verbal, Written and IT
 Basic understanding of Accounts management
 Adapting in a challenging environment and living with minimum resources
 Self Driven Nature and ability to work independently
 Proactiveness and passion to work for rural issues
Required Qualification and Experience:
 Graduate / Post graduate in the field of MBA, Agri Business Management, Rural
Management, Social Entrepreneurship Rural Development, Commerce, etc.
 A minimum of 2 years relevant experience for Post- graduates and 3 years relevant
experience for graduates
Salary: Rs. 20,000-30,000 per month
