1. INTRODUCTION
PGDCSW is a unique job oriented, practice based two semester program with a distinctive blend of clinical social work and counseling practice skills. This programme offers opportunity for the learners to get trained any two therapeutic models and to specialize in counseling for children and adolescent or Workplace Counseling.
The programme has clearly planned opportunities for practice of counseling skills and methods with possibilities for internship in relation to the specialization areas.
2. ELIGIBILITY:
Bachelors in any subject. Preference will be given to post graduates in Social Work, Psychology, Human resources, Education and Home Science.
3. PROGRAM EDUCATION OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the program the students will be able to:
1. Display knowledge of foundations of general, developmental and personality psychology
2. Demonstrate awareness of mental health and psychopathology applicable for counselling
3. Display knowledge of direct social work practice and clinical practice and appreciate the role of counselling in clinical social work practice
4. Demonstrate knowledge of process, skills and techniques of counselling practice
5. Demonstrate skills in building relationship and assessment of clients
6. Demonstrate skills in the practice of techniques of counselling
7. Exhibit knowledge and skills of practice using theoretical approaches of counselling
8. Demonstrate skills of practice using behavioral, cognitive behavioral, Cognitive analytical approaches in counselling
9. Demonstrate knowledge and skills of strengths based practice
10. Display detailed understanding of practice in the areas of child and adolescent counselling or Marriage and Family or Workplace counselling
