Description:

vChalk Education is a high growth, mission driven and highly entrepreneurial organization. We are looking for a Teacher Growth Manager who will lead our efforts in building the capacity of teachers in schools associated with vChalk. The main focus of the role is the growth of teachers and the implementation of the Teaching-by-level evidence based pedagogy in vChalk’s activity based classes. We look for a go-getter, proactive person who is enthusiastic about our mission and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities:
o   Collaborate with the Product Lead to develop strategies and tools to motivate teachers and create a culture of learning outcomes in low fee private schools and government schools that vChalk works with
o   Develop processes for future growth managers and iterate based on field learnings
o   Train teachers on TaRL pedagogy
o   Collaborate with school leaders and up to 50 teachers and represent vChalk in minimum 12 schools
o   Lead class observations and gather data on teacher performance
o   Guide/train teachers on effective tactics (such as class management, briefing, checking for understanding, debriefing)
o   Empower teachers and support their professional and personal development
o   Develop an Academics Assistant in the school from among existing teachers
o   Partner with the Academics Assistant to design teacher performance feedback and learning improvement strategies
o   Develop relationship with parents and school leaders and keep them engaged with student learning goals
o   Oversee adoption of vChalk curriculum and resources
o   Intermediate the connect between the school stakeholders and the technical team for any technology related support
o   Conduct parent workshops and develop strategies for parents to support English learning at home in the first years in school

Requirements:
o   Experience in teaching
o   Passion for teaching children from lower income families
o   Analytical skills
o   Minimum undergraduate degree
o   Proficiency in English and Kannada (required)
o   Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
o   Ability to listen actively and learn continuously
o   Ability to empathize and support other people’s growth
o   Willing to travel extensively to schools across Bangalore and Karnataka
o   Passion for improving educational opportunities for children in lower-income families
o   Patience and diplomacy in order to successfully manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Remuneration:
This is a full time opportunity starting immediately and it entails daily travel to schools in and around Bangalore. The travel cost is covered by the company. The remuneration for this role depends on qualifications and the performance during a 2-month probation period. After the probation period, the duration of the employment contract will be for minimum 1 year.
