Tribal populations living on the fringe of India’s forests have lived symbiotically with their surroundings for centuries. Today, as their forests aredepleting , so too is their way of life and sustenance.
Now at cross purposes with the forest, these communities are forced to compete for survival, putting a strain on the ecosystem. Often, this results in migration to cities, a loss of their unique culture, and a fall into the urban poverty cycle, putting an additional burden on the already overstretched urban infrastructure.

Conservation WildlandsTrust was founded in 2012 as a philanthropic initiative to promote community-based wildlife conservation. It aims to bring economic opportunities to the community by changing its relationship with the forest, from that of competitor to custodian.
, that have been started 2 years ago. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the TISS National CSR hub that is the monitoring and evaluation partner for the project.
● Conduct a rapid impact assessment of the activities done by CWT so far and prepare a report describing the study findings
● Analyze the gaps and create a strategic plan with the CWT and TISS team to address the gap and strengthen the initiative
● Build a rapportin the community and work closely with the community members and CWT field staff to strengthen the initiative
● Mentor the CWT field staff to build capacity, identify resource persons, hold community meetings, and impart information and facilitate positive behavior/pattern change withincommunity .
● Reinforce and consolidate CWT’s interventions that have begun by ensuring that implementation, use of appropriate tools, documentation, prioritization, outcomes, communication, and feedback are all being used appropriately.
● Facilitate the village community to be agents for change and facilitators for creating a wider influence in neighboring communities. Help communities understand their role in a bigger context by creating a sense of ownership. Set the foundation for community ownership/stewardship.
● Through the SHGs, make all women ‘active’ within the community.Strategize on how to identify “active” women who can leaders and bring change within the community.
● Mapping access and utilization of government schemes in the villages
● Monitor ongoing activities of CWT on ground on day to day basis
● Report to CWT and TISS and work closely with both teams
● Streamline the operations of SHG’s/ESHG’s/YG’s. Develop entrepreneurial capacities.
● Conducting communityorganization sessions for the team on weekly basis
● Education: MA in Social Work or similar course from TISS
● Minimum 2 years of experience in community organization and development of rural communities and SHGs
● Strong skills in capacity building of field staff and community members
● Good research, documentation and communication skills
● Knowledge of Government schemes and improving access to and utilization of the schemes
● Flexible and open to new ideas and learning
● Proactive and self-drive to conceptualize and develop new ideas; good problem solver
● Commitment of 1 year minimum. May be extended based on performance and field requirements.
