Content Associate, Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA), Bangalore

Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) is a two and a half years old education company, which has received amazing response from stakeholders, including teachers, schools, other education organizations and governments. CENTA aims to empower teachers and catalyse teacher professional development through its CENTA Certificates that will connect outstanding teachers to great opportunities and therefore create a career pathway and tangible motivation for the broader teacher profession.

This is not a training or professional development program, but an objective and practical assessment of competencies leading to Certificates of different levels. Through the catalytic effect of this (i.e. schools using the Certificate as a signal of quality for their recruiting, promotions, etc.; certified teachers getting tangible opportunities; a larger population of teachers getting tangible motivation to build competencies; high quality teacher training entities seeing demand for their services...), CENTA aims to play a fundamental role in the quality of education in India. Set up as a private limited, CENTA operates with the mindsets of both a social enterprise focused on impact and a professional company with exciting career opportunities.

The CENTA Certificate is based on the CENTA Standards, a well-defined competency framework for teachers. The Certification involves an objective test – held as a national competition for teachers, the CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (community of 15,000+ teachers, 500+ cities/towns/villages; TPO 2017 will be held in 28 cities, 14 subjects, 4 languages) – and a practical assessment, which is also significantly technology-enabled. The Certificate can also be taken up modularly, through micro-credentials. CENTA is founded by two seasoned professionals with IIT-IIM background, 15+ years of work experience in respected global companies and, in one case, in-depth experience and pioneering contributions in education also. The team also has other senior people bringing significant experience.

The core team is 12- member strong currently, with 25 to 30 part-time persons for test creation, assessment of submissions, etc. CENTA is supported by a fantastic advisory board and an emerging expert council.

(1) JOB DESCRIPTION – CONTENT ASSOCIATE: • Role: Content Associate. We are looking at full-time long term employment but are also open to shorter project based engagement. • Base: Bangalore. • Role involves: (a) Reviewing and iterating on questions for the objective test in the CENTA Certification; (b) Designing and reviewing content for the overall CENTA Certification, including through external expert input, field input and literature review; (c) More broadly, being involved with the on-going refinements to the CENTA Standards or competency framework for teachers. • Preferred profile: Someone with experience in teaching or teacher education/ training, experience in assessment or content design and strong analytical and qualitative reasoning. In-depth knowledge and understanding of specific topic(s) through educational background and/or practice would be a plus, but not required. The role would also require strong program management skills in terms of building and working with a team of Subject Matter Experts for both objective and subjective evaluation. This being a young organization, the candidate can also get broader opportunities also based on interest and capabilities.

(2) JOB DESCRIPTION – DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST: Over the last couple of years, CENTA has built up a strong online presence which transcends popular social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. With a combined following of over 5000 followers, CENTA’s Facebook pages (CENTA - Centre for Teacher Accreditation and Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad) comprise of one of the active online communities of teachers.

 • Role: Digital Marketing Specialist. We are looking at part-time project based engagement, but based on the candidate’s interest and background, open to exploring long-term employment with a broader mandate. • Base: Bangalore – in the CENTA office (part-time could be 3 days a week in the office). • Role involves: Initially drive the various aspects of digital marketing of the CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad TPO 2017. These aspects include SEO (Search Engine Optimization), SEM (Search Engine Marketing), SMM (Social Media Marketing), Mobile Marketing and Email Marketing. The candidate is expected to have good experience with planning a social media strategy (including target audience, location, budget) as well as the analysis of completed digital marketing campaigns (using ROI check, insights from Google Analytics and so forth). For candidates applying for a longer term role, broader aspects of communication and marketing/outreach at CENTA could be added. • Preferred profile: Someone with good understanding of and interest in digital marketing including social media (even if not expertise).

Someone with interest in the education sector and in building the brand of a young social enterprise. This being a young organization, the candidate can also get broader opportunities also based on interest and capabilities.
