About INVENT
Technology Development Board (TDB), Government of India in partnership with Department for International Development (DFID), UK have initiated the - Innovative Ventures and Technologies for Development (INVENT)Programme. Villgro has been selected to act as the lead incubator to provide incubation support aimed at creating a viable social enterprise (for profit) pipeline for impact investments in the 8 low income states of India (UP, MP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Orissa and West Bengal). Villgro will support/assist shortlisted incubators in the low income states to hand-hold Innovative businesses at seed or early stages of enterprise development that benefit the poor in the LIS of India while being commercially successful.
About Villgro Innovations Foundation
Founded in 2001, Villgro is India’s oldest and foremost social enterprise incubator, focused on solving some of India’s most critical problems through market-based models. Villgro inspires, mentors, funds and incubates innovative social enterprises in four sectors across India: education, healthcare, agriculture and energy.
Villgro is a non-profit organization and an approved Incubator by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Since inception Villgro has incubated 120 social enterprises and entrepreneurs, provided them with seed funding of approximately INR 140 million; these enterprises have gone on to generate around 5,000 jobs, have secured INR 1194 million in follow-on funding, and have touched over 15 million underprivileged lives.
About Technology Development Board (TDB)
The Government of India constituted the Technology Development Board (TDB) in September 1996, under the Technology Development Board Act, 1995, as a statutory body, to promote development and commercialization of indigenous technology and adaptation of imported technology for wider application. The Board provides financial assistance in the form of equity, soft loans or grants.
Description of the Role:
Working under the direct supervision of the Consultant, TDB. The Program Coordinator would be expected to assist in carrying out the liason between TDB, Villgro and Incubators; monitoring, documentation, coordination and other functions as delineated by their direct supervisors and the Program Leader of Villgro. The Program Coordinator would also provide assistance in planning and organizing events as and when required, as well as in monitoring implementation of various schemes and programmes of the TDB. The overall objective of the positions would be to enable the efficien and smooth functioning of the INVENT Program with the purpose to support Inclusive innovations solutions, both technological and process oriented, that have a positive social and economic impact on people in Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP).
At Villgro
-Anchoring all co-ordinating with all stakeholders- the Replication team, the Finance team and the Incubation team on various aspects of the program while reporting to the President (India) of Villgro.
The candidate will be stationed at PMU at TDB and will work between Villgro and TDB office and under their guidance.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Master’s Degree Or A Higher Bachelor’s Degree In Economics/Governance/Social Work/Entrepreneurship/Any Other Related Field Of Social Development
Minimum Experience Of 5 Years, Working On The Specific Domain Area (Livelihood, Healthcare, Agri-Business, Education And Clean Energy) And With Special Focus On Social Enterprises. Previous Experience Of Working With The Government/NGOs/International Organisations Or On Any Government Mission And Societies Is Highly Desirable.
Good Understanding And Knowledge Of Domain Area As Well As Policies And Programmes Of The Startups At The National Level
Knowledge Of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word With An Ability To Work On Reports, Budgets, Co-Ordination And Liaison.
Maximum Age Limit Of 35 Years
Location- New Delhi, Based out of TDB office
